This is my first blog post for the History of economic thought assignment. As if you needed to know that…

I am a 23-year-old undergraduate student with a relatively small amount of cash in my wallet and an incredibly high dislike for calculating my daily expense. I also have a huge amount of debt on me and I live in a third world country. Which also has a huge debt problem. That’s what makes us a united nation. All of us have debt problems.

I study economics and no matter how many times they tell me it`s not about money, I`m going with my gut and will keep telling myself it`s all about money while casually running out of money almost on a daily basis. Now I don’t even stress out over it. Yea I ran out of money after my third rickshaw ride to reach the bus station. What`s new?

In one way, I only have like one activity during the day. To receive education.

All I do each day is wake up, go to campus, get educated, go back home and sleep. This usually happens in a span of 12 hours. Once I reach home, I`m almost done for the day. Usually I just go straight to bed. Wake up again at 6 am and start the grind again. Well, I wouldn`t exactly call it a grind. But I guess it is. I just don’t get paid for it.

A year from now, I will have a bachelor’s degree in Economics. I`m in junior year and as of yet I refuse to accept Adam Smith as the father of Economics. And that is my understanding of the economy.

As a person, I used to love literature and always had an unworldly relationship with writing. So even though this is an assignment, I`m going to enjoy. Because I’ve always wanted a blog but never got around to actually doing it. Economics happened.

I may sometimes go off-topic, and get hysterically satirical, but that doesn`t mean I`m not being serious.

Economics is about serious stuff. Serious issues. Serious theories that can have long term serious impact on the somewhat serious general public.

And lastly, I`m going to write feminist critiques of almost everything I studied in history of economic thought. And eventually, I`m going to become a feminist economist. As it says in the title. The Femonomist.

Enjoy!
